CONYERS ROCKDALE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL ANNOUNCES VOLUME TRANSPORTATION, INC. RELOCATES TO ROCKDALE COUNTY CONYERS, GEORGIA
Conyers Rockdale Economic Development Council is pleased to announce that Volume Transportation, an over the road dry van and refrigerated truckload carrier serving some of the most trusted names in America, will relocate their corporate headquarters, with 225 employees, from Lithonia to a 21-acre site located on Plunkett Road and make an initial investment of $3 million in Rockdale County.
A Georgia Corporation, Volume Transportation was co-founded in 1992 by Larry Sellers and Joe Coleman, and currently operates 175 trucks and owns 800 trailers.
Larry Sellers, President of Volume Transportation, said in an earlier meeting today that there is a lot of enthusiasm among his employees for the move from DeKalb County to Rockdale County. “Our people are excited,” he said. “I can’t tell you how many people disappear at lunchtime just to drive down Plunkett Road.” Sellers continued, “Rockdale County is a great location, it offers a safe working environment for our people, it’s very pro-business, and we are excited about our move.” Sellers also expressed appreciation to Rockdale County and community leaders for working with his staff to make the move possible and to make them feel so welcome.
“We have really enjoyed getting to know the folks at Volume Transportation and believe they will be great corporate citizens,” said Marty Jones, Director of CREDC.
