Pratt Industries Grows Again

Pratt Industries, an international paper recycling and box manufacturer broke ground today on its new Conyers solid waste transfer station. This is the first phase of a planned $13 million “eco campus” that will bring 40-50 new jobs to the Conyers/Rockdale area. The transfer station construction is part of Pratt’s bid for the recycling and solid waste collection contract with the City of Conyers.

“The contract transitions Conyers’ municipal solid-waste collection to Pratt’s Recycling Division,” said division president Myles Cohen. “Additionally, the transfer station will also accept residential and commercial solid waste from other waste haulers and cities in Georgia.” Approximately 40% of the solid waste collected at the new station will be either recycled or used for the on-site gassification energy plant, and will therefore be diverted from landfills. The solid waste transfer station will serve local solid waste haulers and save on fuel that would be used to haul the waste to more distant landfills.
